Jacob's First Graduation!!! (and an attempted bat-sighting)

Cousin Jacob graduated from preschool on Thursday, the 22nd. He's growing up so fast!

We had initially planned on doing the Father's Day portraits at The Picture People today, but since Jacob had a rehearsal in the morning we rescheduled it for the prior Tuesday. See, we planned the week's activities last week, back when Poppa and Jessica first arrived.

So for Thursday, instead we ended up visiting the DPS museum in Austin (it was very small) and went to Stan's Burgers (awesome burgers!) for lunch. And then we all headed on home so that we could rendezvous back at Cousin Jacob's school for his graduation at 6pm.

Cousin Jacob looked like such a big boy in his cap and gown and looked SO adorable!!! Sweet Pea had tons of fun being there because of all the kids around and she especially loved that the chairs they had out for everybody were Sweet Pea-sized! Michael had his camera out and was taking pictures throughout the ceremony while Uncle Mark had Poppa's video camera and was taking footage.

Here are some pictures:

Peek-a-Boo, I see you!!!

Sweet Pea has this thing now (again - we thought she was done doing this) where she runs around with her shirt up showing off her belly button

After Jacob's graduation we had grand plans of going downtown to watch the mass exodus of bats from underneath the Congress Avenue bridge. This bridge houses the largest urban bat colony in North America! It's the spring and summer home to some 750,000 bats with up to 1.5 million bats at the peak of the bat-watching season. But alas, they refused to cooperate.

We got there around 7:30ish because they normally take flight between 8:00 - 8:30 pm but we were there till around 10:15 pm and saw nary a one. Uncle Mark, Aunt Jen and the kids took off earlier than that but we really wanted to stay and see the bats emerge. Jessica and Michael both had their cameras propped up and ready to go. Such a shame that we didn't get to see any. Oh well, maybe next time Poppa and Jessica visit...

Michael was pack mule again and had Sweet Pea in the backpack carrier so we don't have any pictures of either of them. Actually, there weren't very many pictures at all because all cameras were poised and ready to take bat-pictures.

all of us (sans Michael and Sweet Pea) waiting for the bats
ps. no, I'm no pregnant - I know I look it in the pic, but it's just the shirt and my purse

notice the change from daytime to nighttime - we waited a loooooong time!

we stopped off to take pictures of the Texas State Capitol on our way home
