Ice Skating

We promised the girls that we would take them ice skating after watching the Tree Lighting and Ice Spectacular at the Galleria Mall the weekend before last.  So last weekend we went to Chaparral Ice in the Northcross Mall to do exactly that.

I checked out their website beforehand and they actually have a one-time free 30-minute class for kids age 6 and up.  The ice is open to the public from 12-4 on Saturdays and the class was at 12.  We definitely wanted to get Sweet Pea enrolled in that class, and the website said to get there early since class size is limited.

So after their swim lessons on Saturday morning, we headed home and they changed into their "ice skating clothes" and we made our way over to the mall.  We got there early enough to get Sweet Pea on the class list.  Yay!  So she started her lessons at noon while Papa Bear, Sugar Plum and I "skated" around the rink.  When Sweet Pea was done, she made her way over to us and told us how much she loved this!

We had also invited one of Sugar Plum's friend's and her parents to come ice skating with us.  They showed up a little bit later, so all of us had a grand ol' time on the ice.  We were there till about 3:30 - practically the entire time they were open to the public.  Papa Bear's and my feet were SO sore by the time we finally called uncle.  The girls still wanted to keep on skating!  They enjoyed it so much that we'll probably enroll them both in ice skating lessons.
